I don’t want to call us “foodies” because we don’t always eat. But, like many Filipino families, our family is anchored by food and our dining table, and food is our priority whenever we travel. Now that we have grown up, we don’t just seek out food, we also seek out makers and producers of food. We love knowing where our food come from and how other people are making a living through food. So it was no wonder our first destination on a Saturday in Bacolod was the Farmers’ Weekend Market. Advertisements
Today, as my husband and I were having coffee at the McDonald’s across City Hall, I thought of three things: (1) Cebu is dirty; (2) I love this city, and (2) I should go out more often. Across from where we were sitting, locals and tourists were taking snaps of themselves inside the Magellan’s Cross and farmers were setting up their display of greens and violets (in the case of eggplants and avocados).
Today was a busy day for me. I had to wake up early to do my cousin’s make-up for her graduation from college, I had to prepare lasagna as my contribution to the graduation part, and attend a highschool classmate’s wedding. In between these activities, I had to squeeze in time this morning to check out Cebu Farmers Market.
