We thought it would be fun to check out the Bojo River tour but we wanted to stay over night in Aloguinsan and the only place we can afford was Hidden Beach. The north of Cebu is a relatively new discovery to me. It was only this year that I was able to finally visit all towns and cities of Northern Cebu and, to me, that is a feat because I’ve been living in the city for almost 2 decades and I can’t believe I still haven’t toured the province completely. Anyway, it was a road trip to remember, one because it was my husband’s clan reunion and, two, we almost figured in a road accident and I couldn’t shake off the fear in the next days following our arrival home.
The municipality of San Remegio is located in northern Cebu. After we stayed at Bunzie’s Cove for two days, we proceeded to Bogo and then to San Remegio to stay at another beach resort. The weather was gloomy by the time we arrived, but I was keen to exploring the town (or at least the areas near where the beach resort was located) because I spotted a sign of an archeological site.
After visiting Carcar’s town center and Carcar’s now-out-in-the-open secret, we decided to drive a few kilometers further south to the town of Sibonga. I don’t know why we bothered to waste our gas to go to the next town, but our guide said Carcar doesn’t have any decent place to eat. From what I’ve seen passing through the city by bus countless of times, there doesn’t really seem to have any decent place to eat there. Maybe there are still many secrets in Carcar I need to discover.
Remember our quick trip to Carcar? I mentioned that the reason my sister and I ventured to the small city south of Cebu City was to have dinner. I told her that Carcar has the best lechon in the province. I’ve tasted several other best lechon (such as Rico’s lechon and CnT’s lechon) but I thought Carcar’s lechon was the most delicious because it tasted nearer to the way our lechons in Lazi tasted. Anthony Bourdain’s loss was that he only got to taste one kind of lechon and immediately declared it the best pig ever.
The Molave Milk Station is a popular fixture in Barili. Situated in a blind curve, the place offers relief to hungry and tired travellers and road trippers. I have been here many times, but the place never gets old. It seems every time I come here, they offer something new to travellers.
